Police clock driver travelling 189 km/h

The RCMP has taken another excessive speeding driver off the road.

On Saturday officers parked on the TCH near Square Pond observed a car travelling westbound at 189 km/h. The information was relayed to an RCMP officer in Gander and the vehicle was located and stopped as it exited the TCH in Gander.

The 19-year-old driver faces a criminal charge of dangerous driving and was ticketed for excessive speed. His driver’s licence was suspended and the car was seized and impounded.

He is set to appear in court on December 14.
