Man arrested after incident in Halfway Point


The RCMP has arrested 38-year-old James Boone of Halfway Point with a number of criminal offences.


On Wednesday night the RCMP responded to a report of an assault and various firearm offences involving.


A tactical plan to safely apprehend Boone was implemented with officers from various RCMP units.


Officers executed a search warrant at Boone’s residence. A firearm was recovered from inside the home. A short time later the accused was apprehended by RCMP at a hotel in Corner Brook without incident.


The accused faces charges of careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, assault and uttering threats.


He remains in custody and will appear in court today.
