The area of low pressure that we have been talking about is right on the doorstep of southern Nova Scotia this morning. Parts of Newfoundland will get a blast of winter weather.
This storm will be an issue for the south coast, parts of central, and eastern sections including the Avalon Peninsula.
The snow will begin overnight on Thursday. By dawn on Friday, there will be heavy snow and strong winds along parts of the south coast, central, and the Avalon. The snow will begin to taper off on Saturday morning. There is still a slight chance of seeing a rain-snow mix near Cape Race.

Unsurprisingly with all the severe weather on the way, Marine Atlantic is anticipating potential impacts to sailings from Thursday, Jan. 16 at 23:45 through to Monday, Jan. 20 at 11:45.
