The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have laid charges against a Bay of Islands man as a result of an ongoing investigation.
On June 7, 2019 RNC received a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving erratically on the North Shore Highway, Route 440, between Irishtown-Summerside and Corner Brook.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. an officer while patrolling the North Shore Highway observed the vehicle being operated in an erratic fashion and conducted a traffic stop at the city limits of Corner Brook and town limits of Irishtown- Summerside.
As a result of an investigation, a 24 year old male resident of Irishtown-Summerside, NL was charged with Impaired Operation and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Blood-Alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg%.
The driver’s blood alcohol content was three times over the legal limit. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
He was released to appear in Provincial Court in August 2019.
