The Wagner group has taken the city of Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to punish the group calling the event "betrayal" and "treason" in a national address.

The group's leader Yevgeny Prigozhin said that a military establishment in the southern part of the country has been taken.

A convoy of Wagner troops was seen heading toward Moscow. A “counterterrorism” state of emergency has been declared in Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, "Anyone who chooses the path of evil destroys himself," adding that, "Russia's weakness is obvious."
