Vehicle flees from police in Carbonear
RCMP arrested a man that fled from police twice on Sunday.
Officers arrested 23-year-old Austin Keels after he was located in Carbonear. The accused now faces a number of charges.
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on May 22, 2022, an officer attempted to stop a car in Carbonear. The driver refused to stop for the police. A short time later a second officer spotted the vehicle. Again the accused fled a second time.
The vacant car was located a short time later at an unoccupied residence on Pike’s Lane.
Police identified the driver as Austin Keels. He was arrested later in the morning at a residence on Mahaney’s Lane in Carbonear and was held in custody over the weekend to attend court on Tuesday.
He is charged with the following criminal offences flight from police, dangerous driving – two counts, causing a disturbance – two counts, breach of a court release order – two counts, and several violations under the Highway Traffic Act.
