Syrian rebels have entered the capital of Damascus.


Fighting in recent days has seen the Syrian military retreat from several posts.


Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has fled the country according to Russia.


There will now be a challenging process to determine who will take over the country of over 23 million. Bashar al-Assad has ruled the country since 2000 and the Assad family has ruled the country for 53 years.


The rebel offensive began on November 27.
