Start of the St. John's Cruise ship season delayed due to ice
The start of the St. John's Cruise ship season is off to an icy start.
The Norwegian Dawn was originally scheduled to arrive on Monday, April 24 but it has cancelled her visit to St. John’s due to the presence of sea ice.
St. John's will see the next cruise ship on June 6 when the Silver Shadow arrives with 388 passengers.
Had the Norwegian Dawn arrived, it would have brought approximately 3,000 passengers to the city.
Counting the Norwegian Dawn, there were 36 cruise ships from 21 cruise lines scheduled to arrive between the months of April and October, with more than 43,000 passengers.
