Rumour leads to active shooter report at Pasadena Beach

The RCMP is advising the public of rumours surrounding an active shooter at Pasadena Beach on Thursday.

Police say it was a false alarm.

The false information was linked to a photo that was circulating on social media. The photo showed a youth with a gun visible in his waistband. Police investigated, questioned the youth and seized the gun pictured, which was determined to be a non-functional airsoft BB gun.

No shooting threat had been made, and the inaccurate information was being spread based on the picture of the youth.
