Late last week the RCMP received a complaint involving the theft of a wallet from the back seat of a vehicle parked at a residence in Hare Bay.

The owner of the wallet reported to the police that there was $30 in the wallet at the time of the theft.

Since then, information has been circulating in the community indicating a much larger amount of money was taken and that RCMP dismissed the complaint. Additionally, a Go Fund Me account has been created in relation to the matter.

RCMP said in a statement that a file was opened and that the complaint will be handled and prioritized based on the volume and seriousness of other crimes reported.
