Rally held at City Hall in St. John's in support of Ukraine

On Saturday several St. John's residents huddled in the cold weather outside City Hall to show support for Ukraine.

The flag raised was presented to a Ukrainian Canadian in 2017 after their band performed in the city of Lviv. It is signed by veterans of the war in Donbas.

Canada has a large Ukrainian population. In 2016, there were an estimated 1,359,655 persons of full or partial Ukrainian origin residing in Canada. In Newfoundland, 0.3 percent of the population is of Ukrainian origin.
