Provincial deficit down slightly

Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Siobhan Coady provided a fiscal and economic update today.

Coady says that the deficit this year is now at 595 million dollars. Down from the 826 million projected.

The deficit cost is about $3,000 per taxpayer in the province.

Oil revenue is up 23 million dollars since budget 2021.

The net debt is projected to decrease to 16.7 billion dollars.

Our debt remains the highest per capita in the country.
