Premier to deliver apology to residential school system survivors


Premier Andrew Furey will be in Cartwright on Friday to deliver an apology to former students of the residential school system and family members.


The event will be held at the Cartwright Recreation Centre on Friday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m. ADT.


The apology is being undertaken in collaboration with the NunatuKavut Community Council, as committed in 2017. Joining the Premier for the event are Lisa Dempster, Minister of Labrador Affairs and Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation, and Todd Russell, President of the NunatuKavut Community Council.


Former students, their family members, community members, and others impacted by the residential school system are invited to attend.
