Premier Furey to Provide Update on School Transportation
Tomorrow, Premier Andrew Furey will provide an update on school transportation.
Furey will be joined by Minister of Education Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure John Abbott, as well as representatives from the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, the Francophone School District and the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of School Councils.
The announcement will take place at Hazelwood Elementary School in St. John’s at 10:30 am.
I would like an explanation as to why Furey is overriding the work of the Dept of Education and pulling Portugal Cove Students out of Prince of Wales and building a high school in Portugal Cove. That is too personal - benefitting his family and neighbours but makes absolutely no sense- after all the work done developing a plan for high schools. And students will still have to be bussed. Perhaps that money could be better used making a prison that is fit for the purpose.
