Police stop driver owing more than $14K in fines

The RNC responded to a traffic complaint in the downtown area of St. John's on Monday afternoon.

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Officers determined that the 67-year-old male driver had a suspended license and over $14,000 in outstanding fines.

The man was arrested and charged with prohibited driving and was also ticketed for driving without insurance, failing to transfer ownership and driving while suspended.

The accused was released to appear in court at a later date. The vehicle was impounded.
