Nova Scotia sees highest number of new COVID-19 cases to date, NL adds two


There were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday. One in Eastern Health and one in Central Health. Both cases are related to travel within Canada.


Because of the case in the Eastern Health region and out of an abundance of caution, Public Health is asking passengers who travelled on Air Canada Flight 8016 that departed Montreal and arrived in St. John’s on Monday, April 19 to arrange COVID-19 testing.


Because of the case in the Central Health region and out of an abundance of caution, Public Health is asking passengers who travelled on the MV Atlantic Vision that departed North Sydney on Wednesday, April 21 at 11:45 p.m. and arrived in Port aux Basques on Thursday, April 22 at 7:15 a.m. to arrange COVID-19 testing.


There are 25 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.


To date, 131,639 people have been tested.


On Saturday there were three new cases.


Both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick also reported new cases over the weekend.


Nova Scotia reported 63 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The largest number of new cases since the pandemic began. There were 52 new cases on Saturday.


New Brunswick Public Health reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
