Municipal Conduct Act to Take Effect

There will be a new Municipal Conduct Act coming into effect on September 1. The Act will require councils to establish their own codes of conduct.

The new Act will govern conflict of interest, ethical behaviour and professional conduct for all municipalities throughout the province.

A circular will be provided to all municipalities. The Department will provide information and training sessions with respect to the code of conduct and mandatory training to municipalities.
