Loblaws & Union Spar Through Letters

Striking Dominion employees received a letter on Tuesday from Mike Doucette the Vice President of Atlantic Operations.

The letter reads in part that the provincial population is shrinking and struggling, with fewer dollars to go around.

The letter also said that Dominion business has been declining for years. Some stores have seen double-digit declines.

Loblaws and Unifor negotiated and agreed to a wage increase over the 3-year contract is fair and realistic for the business to remain competitive.

The tentative agreement is still on the table.

Unifor Local 597 posted a letter in response citing that wages have not kept up with inflation and that Dominion jobs are no longer family-supporting jobs.
