Legendary NHL player Ken Dryden dead at 78

Ken Dryden, a professional ice hockey goaltender, politician, lawyer, businessman, and author, has died at the age of 78.


Dryden died after a battle with cancer.


He was an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.


Dryden was a Liberal MP from 2004 to 2011 and Minister of Social Development from 2004 to 2006. He played for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League from 1971 to 1979, winning the Stanley Cup six times.


He was named one of history's 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017.


Dryden and his wife Lynda have two children and four grandchildren.
