Large number of Caribou near St. Anthony
The public is being advised of a significant number of caribou in the area of St. Anthony Airport and Eddies Cove and on the roadway between St. Anthony Airport and the Town of Main Brook.
There is a large number of animals in the area making them vulnerable to vehicular traffic.
Caribou will be in the area throughout the late fall and winter.
Motorists should scan both sides of the highway, pay attention to caribou warning signs on roads and highways, avoid driving at dusk and dawn when caribou are more common alongside roadways, have passengers also watch for caribou; and reduce speeds when driving at night when caribou are more difficult to see.
