SEA-NL says Labrador is one step closer to having a search and rescue air base.

This past weekend the Liberal Party of Canada approved a resolution to designate a search and rescue air base for Labrador.

Merv Wiseman spearheaded the resolution and said, “Labrador is one step closer to having 5-Wing Goose Bay designated a SAR air base that will save lives.”

The resolution urges the federal government to designate 5-Wing Goose Bay as a SAR air base, which would include stationing one of the military’s Cormorant SAR helicopters there.

Government is not compelled to follow through on the resolution.
