A 16-year-old from this province has made history at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara.

Jaida Lee became the first ever female player to compete in men's competition at the Canada Summer Games since 1969.

Gary Martin, Team NL Chef de Mission said, "Jaida is an inspiration to young girls in sport right across the country, not only for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians."

Jaida pitched an inning and a third, allowing five earned runs in a 17-7 defeat to Team Alberta. Team NL baseball sits with a record of 0-2 in pool B, with games remaining against PEI, New Brunswick and Quebec.

Approximately 400 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff are participating in the Canada Summer Games. Team NL is represented by 22 teams, participating in 17 sports.
