History of Guy Fawkes Night

Tonight is Guy Fawkes Night also known as Bonfire Night.

The date is primarily observed in the United Kingdom. Its history stems from the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

Guy Fawkes was arrested while guarding explosives that a group of plotters had placed beneath the House of Lords.

Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London.

Will you be attending a bonfire tonight?
