Gunmen kill 19 people in Russian region of Dagestan

Authorities say 19 people and five gunmen are dead after an apparent terrorist attack in the Russian region of Dagestan.

Several others were transported to hospital.

The attack, which appeared to be coordinated, targeted the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala.

Among those killed were several police officers and an Orthodox priest. Gunmen attacked police posts, churches and a synagogue.

Three days of mourning have been declared.
