Governor General's trip to Iceland cost taxpayers nearly $300,000
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says when Governor General Mary Simon visited Iceland on October 12 to October 15, 2022, it cost taxpayers nearly $300,000.
The CTF obtained internal government records and receipts related to the trip through a series of access-to-information requests.
Taxpayers were also on the hook for a $71,000 bill from “Icelimo Luxury Travel”.
$115,000 of the total was for a hotel rental and hotel refreshments.
Simon was visiting the island nation for the Arctic Circle Assembly.
