Erin O'Toole quitting Federal Politics


Erin O'Toole announced he is quitting federal politics.


Erin O'Toole was the leader of the Conservative party from 2020-2022, Erin O'Toole then became leader of the official opposition after defeating former cabinet minister Peter Mackay in the 2022 Tories leadership election.


His first task as the Tories leader was to market the party to the working-class Canadians, he lost the 2021 federal election whilst receiving a plurality of the popular vote, but he also won his re-election at his home riding of Durham.


On February 2nd, 2022, O'Toole was ousted after losing the leadership review. O'Toole supported getting rid of the federal deficit, simplifying federal taxes, a low carbon savings account, as well as pipeline construction.
