Driver under investigation impaired driving after traffic stop in Harbour Grace

Last Friday an RCMP officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving without its headlights on and travelling at a high rate of speed on Water Street in Harbour Grace.

Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver showed signs of cannabis impairment. He tested positive for cannabis on roadside drug screening equipment and was arrested for impaired driving.

The 18-year-old man provided a blood sample that was collected at the Carbonear General Hospital.

At this time police are awaiting the results of the blood sample to determine if charges of impaired driving will be laid.
