Ottawa Mayor says "there will not be warnings or second chances" for Canada Day protests

The City of Ottawa provided an update today on the Canada Day plans for the city.

There will be several events including Canadian Heritage events at LeBreton Flats, Downtown core festivities, and suburban & rural community events.

Ottawa Police Chief Steve Bell said, "given what we know and what we are faced with, we have taken an enhanced and extended posture that starts well before the 1st of July and extends well past to ensure we properly protect our city."

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said, "there will not be warnings or second chances, if the law is broken regardless of who breaks it, there will be consequences."

Ottawa Police are warning that they will not allow for conditions that led to the unlawful protests in February to reoccur.
