Christmas With COVID-19

Doctor Janice Fitzgerald provided some guidance on the upcoming Christmas season on Thursday.

She suggests limiting close contacts. Your household should have no more than 20 close, consistent contacts during the holidays.

Carolling is permitted if singers remain outdoors, at least six feet from the individuals in the home and each other. Mummering should be limited to households of close contacts.

Specific guidance on Christmas will be released in the coming days.

Santa Claus is an essential worker and is permitted to enter Newfoundland and Labrador. However, should Santa visit a public space any in-person visits should be by appointment only, with no line-ups forming. Individuals must maintain six feet between themselves and Santa. This means no one can sit on Santa’s knee and Santa cannot hold small children.
