CBC slashes nearly 600 jobs
CBC/Radio-Canada has slashed about 600 union and non-union positions.
The corporation is facing a budget shortfall and is managing forecast reductions to its parliamentary funding beginning in the next fiscal year, including the end of program integrity funding of $21 million received annually since 2021.
The Corporation expects to cut across the entire organization. About 200 currently vacant positions across the company will be eliminated.
Some job losses are effective immediately, while others will be phased in over time.
