A fire at Cochrane Pond park on Tuesday night has destroyed a RV and travel trailer.

Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department got a call at around 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday night for reports of a brush fire in Cochrane Pond park. Crews arrived to find a RV and a travel trailer fully engulfed and immediately requested another engine to respond to the call.

Firefighters made several trips shuttling water back and forth from Galway to Cochrane Pond park to knock down the inferno.

Firefighters from Mount Pearl were first to be dispatched to the call and a short time later requested another engine from Paradise. Another engine from Kenmount fire station responded but was later stood down.

Thick black smoke and a orange glow could be seen above tree tops on the Trans Canada Highway near the fire.

Luckily there were no reported injuries as a result of the blaze. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
