Bed Bath & Beyond in Markham, Ontario, in August 2018.

Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Canada will close.

The Canadian arm of the company is insolvent and cannot restructure its operations. It was granted creditor protection on Friday.

The U.S. parent company Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. is also facing financial hardship and cannot provide support to Canadian stores as it too has shuttered some locations.

There are 53 stores across Canada in nine provinces. There are no stores in Quebec, Northwest Territories, Nunavut or Yukon.

There is one store located in Newfoundland and Labrador at the Village Shopping Centre in St. John's.

The company sells home goods, including bedding, kitchenware, towels and decor items.
