Applications Open for Accessible Taxi Grant

The province is now accepting applications for the Accessible Taxi Grant.

Budget 2021 invested $50,000 in the Accessible Taxi Grant.

Grants of up to a maximum of $25,000 are awarded to eligible individuals, companies and agencies that are able to deliver accessible taxi services within the province.

These grants assist with costs of retrofitting a passenger vehicle to meet accessibility standards or assist with the purchase of a new vehicle, which can accommodate passengers with mobility devices, such as wheelchairs and scooters.

Last year, the department awarded an Accessible Taxi Grant in the amount of $25,000 to Blue Bird Cab Limited. This taxi business, which provides services in the Stephenville area, will be able to expand services to meet the demand for accessible transportation over a larger geographical area.
