Another scam making the rounds


There is another scam making the rounds.


Scammers called an elderly resident in Twillingate from what appeared to be a local number and claimed to be an Eastlink employee.


The scammer informed the victim that they were eligible for a special COVID-19 rebate on their services once they provided their social insurance number (SIN), driver’s licence, name and date of birth.


RCMP is reminding people to protect their personal information and that legitimate organizations will never threaten you or ask you for sensitive information like your SIN over the phone.
