A Profile of Donald Trump

Donald Trump is currently the president of the United States.
Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality.
The 74-year old Republican president was sworn into office on January 20, 2017.
During his presidency, there have been multiple allegations of illegal activities, several people close to the president have been convicted of crimes and imprisoned.
A special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller found that Trump and his campaign welcomed and encouraged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election under the belief that it would be politically advantageous.
After Trump solicited Ukraine to investigate his political rival Joe Biden, the House of Representatives impeached him in December 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate acquitted him of both charges in February 2020.
Trump has also been known for his outbursts both at reporters and on Twitter.
While in college, Trump obtained four student draft deferments.

More recently Trump contracted the COVID-19 virus. He has been harshly criticized for his handling of the virus and for repeatedly not wearing a mask. In February 2020, Vice President Mike Pence was appointed chairman of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
