Mitchelmore Announces Funding for Innovative Thermostats
Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, announced a Business Investment Loan of $499,000 to Empowered Homes Incorporated, to support the development of programmable thermostats for lowering residential energy consumption. Minister Mitchelmore was joined by Mark Browne, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation.
Empowered Homes has developed a product solution called Mysa, which is a mobile app enabled, Wi-Fi compatible, line voltage thermostat that combines a sleek design with innovative software to give users total control of their heating systems remotely. Mysa maximizes energy saving by using algorithms based on user habits and big data to automate a heating schedule, without sacrificing the homeowner’s comfort. Using Mysa, projected cost savings could potentially reach 10 to 20 per cent annually.
