182 unmarked graves were discovered near former residential school in BC

WARNING: Disturbing content.

There has been another grisly discovery at the site of a former residential school.

A total of 182 unmarked graves were discovered close to the former St. Eugene's Mission School near Cranbrook, British Columbia.

The graves were only about a metre deep.

The Kootenay Indian Residential School was run by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate of the Roman Catholic Church.

It was opened in 1912, operated at the 1897-built St. Eugene Church, and closed in 1970.

Between 1912 and 1970, over 5,000 children have attended the school.

Today the building is a golf course and casino.
