Journalistic Standards
At Newfound News we have one goal in mind. To report news and information that is accurate, balanced, and timely in a way that is just and fair.
Our newsgathering is independent of commercial or political interests.
While the focus at some news organizations is to report the news first, our focus is to gather the facts and then report the news. Getting it right is more important to us than reporting it first.
We avoid allowing any personal biases to influence our reporting. If a news article is an editorial, it will be presented as such.
Race, ethnicity, nationality, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age or mental or physical disabilities will only be reported when relevant to news coverage. We endeavour to respect the dignity of everyone.
We act with sensitivity and restraint when reporting on potentially dangerous situations and when using violent or graphic images and descriptions.
If an error is found in our reporting, we will make the correction as soon as it is discovered.
We uphold the RTDNA Code of Journalistic Ethics.
