On Tuesday morning, portions of western and central Newfoundland woke up to their first snowfall of the year.
While the snow did change to rain over most areas by the afternoon, there were still about 5 centimetres down in some spots.
Roads were slick in spots. The provincial government announced on Monday that winter tires may be installed effective immediately.
The remainder of this week will be cold and more flurry activity is possible.
