Snow, Rain And Strong Wind Heading Toward NL

An area of low pressure is making for a very unsettled weekend across the province.

Snow will move into southern Labrador and western Newfoundland this afternoon. Snow will make it to western Newfoundland late this afternoon and to the Avalon this evening. The snow will change to rain for all areas of the Island tonight. Rain will continue tomorrow.

The heaviest rain is expected on the south coast, up to 40 mm is possible. For the northern Avalon and west coast, 15 to 25 mm is expected. Strong winds are also expected.

Southeastern parts of Labrador may receive 20 cm of snow.

Conditions will largely improve in Newfoundland on Saturday night, however, due to the counter-clockwise spin of the low, temperatures will once again fall. There is a risk of sea-effect snow along the west coast.
