RCMP Impounds Two Vehicles on Burin Peninsula #nltraffic

RCMP impounded two vehicles Thursday night for various traffic violations.

While on patrol in Point May an officer observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed through the community. A radar reading showed the vehicle’s speed as 96 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone.

The officer attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop for police and pulled into a driveway. The driver exited the car and ran towards the residence. The officer caught up to the man, spoke to him and suspected he was impaired by alcohol. The driver provided a breath sample, that was above the provincial limit, into a roadside screening device.

He was issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension and was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without an insurance policy, driving without a license and other offences. His car was seized and impounded.

An officer on patrol in Marystown conducted a traffic stop on a car that appeared to have expired registration. The officer confirmed that the registration was expired and also found that the car did not have a valid insurance policy.

The vehicle was seized and impounded and the driver was ticketed.
