Government and Nurses Collaborate to Address Challenges

Premier Furey, Minister Haggie, and President of the Registered Nurses’ Union Yvette Coffey announced on Tuesday a number of new measures with the aim of improving the workplace environment and recruiting and retaining registered nurses and nurse practitioners.

Next month a virtual think tank will take place to explore issues and challenges. On April 4 and 5 the event will be an opportunity for the government to listen to registered nurses, identify opportunities and chart a path forward to address the concerns and challenges facing the nursing profession.

The goal of this event is to strategize short-term measures to improve the workplace and the retention and recruitment of registered nurses and nurse practitioners in Newfoundland and Labrador.

More than 100 people will participate in the event.
