Forest fire in CBS contained

There were some tense moments on Sunday afternoon when the Conception Bay South Fire Department, Foresty officers, and the RNC responded to a forest fire in the area between Scott's Road South and Lawrence Pond.

The fire was later contained. A water bomber was dispatched to the area.

For a time, residents in the immediate area were asked to be prepared in case the fire spread and an evacuation of the area became necessary.

Police requested that the public avoid the area and not to stop on Peacekeepers Way.

The fire danger is between high, very high, and extreme for most of the Island.
