New Corner Brook Hospital Announced #nlpoli

Premier Ball was joined by Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works; John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services; Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and MHA for Corner Brook; Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and MHA for Humber Bay of Islands; and Dr. Susan Gillam, CEO of Western Regional Health Authority in Corner Brook today.


 

 
Ball announced that construction will begin in 2019 on a new 50,000 square metre facility.


 

 
The new hospital will have 164 acute care beds.


 

 
Completion is expected to be in 2023.


 

 
All services current provided will continue to be provided at the new hospital. Cancer Care Program including radiation services will also be added.


 

 
The building will be built and maintained by the private sector and staffed by public sector workers.

The government will make payments to the company for 30 years then the government will own the building.
